Celebrating dusk at Merkinch Local Nature Reserve

posterThe Highland Council Countryside Rangers are inviting people outdoors for an evening walk at Merkinch Local Nature Reserve in Inverness on Friday 28 August to celebrate European Bat Weekend.

Katy Martin, Inverness Ranger said: “Dusk is a special time of day in the green gem of Merkinch Nature Reserve. We’ll be looking for bats, moths and other night time animals as we stroll along the paths, taking in the sights, sounds and scents.

She added: “We’ll be using bat detectors to listen out for these elusive night time fliers.”

This event starts at 8.30pm and lasts for an hour and a half. Anyone interested in coming along should meet up with Katy at the Old Ferry Ticket Office on Kessock Road, Inverness. To find out more information contact her on 01463 255291 or e-mail rangers.inverness@highland.gov.uk

This event costs £4 adults, £3 concessions and family tickets are available costing £11 or £7.
