Exhibition on new Council offices for Fort William

Revised proposals for new Highland Council offices will be on display in a public exhibition on Wednesday 16 September in the West End Hotel, Fort William from 1pm – 8pm.

This will be the second public event regarding proposals for the new offices (an earlier event was held in March this year).

Members of the public can come along and view displays of revised drawings being submitted for planning permission which reflect comments made during the previous consultation event.

The planned proposals are for the regeneration of the former Fort William Achintore Secondary school site into the Council’s new main offices to serve the town.

The site on Achintore Road, which has lain empty for over twenty five years, is owned by the Council and is a listed building. The new development is planned to replace offices currently occupied by the Council in Fort William at Lochaber House, Fulton House and Tweeddale, bringing an estimated year-on-year revenue savings of around £400,000. Work on the site is expected to start early next year with the new council offices for the town completed by mid- 2017.

Anyone unable to attend the exhibition will be able to view the plans for the development from 9.30am to 4.30pm Mondays to Fridays from 17 September at the Highland Council Service Point at Lochaber House.
