Council Committee to discuss community transport grants

Details of a process for a call for community transport grants applications will be considered by The Highland Council’s Community Services Committee at their meeting on 5 November

Twenty-two third sector organisations are currently grant funded through transport services and have been advised that their grants expire on 31st March 2016. The fresh call for community transport grants would seek to support projects aiming to deliver practical transport solutions in their communities from 1st April 2016; existing grant recipients would need to apply and submissions by new applicants would be encouraged also.

£416,561 is currently used to support community transport schemes across the Highlands and during the Community Services Committee members will set the level of support for applications.

If approved by the Committee, the applications process will be launched on 6th November 2015 with the prospective closing date for applications of 18th December 2015. Decisions on awards of grant would be made at the Committee’s February 2016 meeting. The process will be competitive and applications will be evaluated against specific criteria to be put to the November Committee meeting.

Full details of the process, along with information on how to submit applications will be available on the Highland Council’s website www.highland.gov.uk following the 5th November Committee.  In the meantime initial enquiries can be made by contacting:
