John Orr who is the Highland Council Countryside Ranger for the area said: “This is a great chance to get away from the busy A9 on to the open hillside and to wander around the ruins of old settlements and wonder at the amazing views in to hidden valleys. We will be walking for around 8km on rough and boggy ground in parts so a reasonable level of fitness will be required.”

The event takes place on Wednesday October 14th from 2pm to 6pm and ties in with the Highland Archaeology Festival which is underway.

Places are strictly limited and must be booked in advance by calling 01463 255291 or e-mailing rangers.inverness@highland.gov.uk. The exact meeting place will be given out at the time of booking.

This guided walk costs £4 adults, £3 concessions. Family tickets are available, costing £11.

The Countryside Rangers run many events and guided walks which aim to help raise awareness and encourage appreciation of the scenery, wildlife and heritage of the Highlands. A programme of Ranger Guided Walks and Events is on the council’s website at: www.highland.gov.uk/countrysiderangerevents
