Joint working to address City centre sewage seepage

The Highland Council and Scottish Water are working together to address a new issue of foul water seepage from Station Lane, Inverness.

The Provost and Leader of the City of Inverness Councillor Helen Carmichael hosted a meeting today (19 January 2016) to address the problem and an immediate joint initiative between the Council’s, Environmental Health and Roads teams with Scottish Water was set up.

Councillor Carmichael said: “I am satisfied that everyone that needs to be is working together quickly and effectively on this collaboration with Scottish Water who are going to work and confirm the source of the sewage leak in conjunction with the owner of the neighbouring Filling Station.”

She added: “I am assured that remedial action will be carried immediately and that the Council’s Environmental Health Team will make sure that the issues relating to the sewage aspects are being dealt with.”

The Council’s Roads team will work with Scottish Water to ensure that as little disruption as possible will be caused for road users and pedestrians at this city centre location.
