Works at Wade Centre - Kingussie
The Wade Centre, a care home and day centre for older people in Kingussie, managed by NHS Highland, is to be upgraded in a major refurbishment starting on 1 February 2016.
The work will involve an upgrade to electrical and heating systems, improvements to residents’ en-suite bathrooms and further fire safety work, including the installation of a sprinkler system. An additional bedroom will also be created which will allow enhanced services to be provided to help avoid hospital admission for some people or to enable speedier discharge from hospital.
The work will be carried out in phases, allowing The Wade Centre to continue operating at a reduced capacity throughout the refurbishment. NHS Highland has made arrangements for the day care service to transfer to St Vincent’s Hospital until the work is completed.
The £1m contract has been awarded by The Highland Council to McGregor Construction. Work will start on 1 February and is scheduled to complete at the end of the year.
