Funding to improve road safety for Dornoch pupils

Funding of £23,000 was approved at yesterday’s Sutherland County Committee to complete the works due to be undertaken at Evelix Road, Dornoch. 

Councillors had previously approved £25,000 from the Cycling Walking and Safer Streets programme for this scheme which consists of a build out, gateway, lining and the creation of a new footpath leading from the town to both the primary and secondary school.

The footpath is an addition to the already planned works and the £23,000 of additional funding agreed will allow for the whole scheme of improvements to be completed before the end of this financial year. The work will be carried out in-house by the Council’s Community Services staff.
