Nurturing Nairnshire - chance to vote for local projects you'd like to see receive funding.

Following the initial application process 33 projects now have a chance to put their idea to the public vote. Nairn members have made a total of £25,000 available for community groups to put their ideas into action.

The participatory budgeting event will take place in Community and Arts Centre, King Street, Nairn on Saturday 12 March. Doors will open at 9:30 for a prompt 10am start and the event will run until around 2pm.

Each applicant will be given a 4 minute slot to highlight how their project will make Nairnshire a better place. Attendees will be then asked to vote to determine which projects are funded.

Provost Fraser said: “Handing decision making to the community it is an excellent way to support community empowerment and help build community cohesion. This has also encouraged a much wider breadth of groups to come forward with project ideas.

This is a community event, so I encourage everyone to come along to cast their vote to help decide what projects are funded.

The event will be a great chance for the groups in Nairnshire to showcase the fantastic work they do and be an excellent opportunity to meet new people and find out what is happening locally “

Any individual who wishes to vote must register between 9:30 and 10am at the Community and Arts Centre, King Street, Nairn and stay for the whole event. To be eligible to vote you must live in the Nairn ward 19 area and be over 14 years old.
