Upgrades to Castle Wynd

WORK started yesterday to upgrade Castle Wynd in preparation for the opening of the North Tower later this year.

City Region Deal money was made available to improve the approaches to the North Tower and Castle.

The existing path will be stripped and resurfaced with a non-slip surface and new handrails will be installed. The work will be done in phases over the next three weeks to maintain access and minimise any disruption to visitors.

Provost of Inverness, Councillor Helen Carmichael said: “It is good to see this work going ahead and it should greatly enhance the approaches to the castle and North Tower.  The project is being carried out with every effort to minimise any disruption to visitors.”
