Public consultation is now underway on newly suggested development ideas in the West Highland and Islands area.

As part of the process of creating a new Local Development Plan for the area, to be known as WestPlan, The Highland Council consulted on a document called the Main Issues Report (MIR) from April to June of this year.  The MIR asked for views on the main issues for people and places in the West Highland and Islands area, and showed options for future development.  Some of the comments received during that consultation included details of sites not already considered through the plan process.  As a result, The Highland Council is now running an Additional Sites Consultation, which seeks comments on selected sites that the Council considers significant enough to require further consultation.

Over the next few days properties immediately adjacent to these sites will receive a notification letter with details of the site, potential land uses and how to make comments.

The easiest way to read and comment on the Additional Sites Consultation is through the Council’s Development Plans Consultation Portal  http://consult.highland.gov.uk/portal/westplanasc

For those not online, a paper copy can be provided by contacting the Council’s Service Centre at 01349 886608 and asking for the Development Plans Team.

Any comments on the Additional Sites Consultation need to be received by the Council no later than 12 noon on Friday 28 October 2016.
