BT removes 3 payphones from closure consultation

BT has informed The Highland Council that they have removed three phone boxes from proposed closure. Public phone boxes at Glenbrittle, Tighean-Na-Glibe (Staffin) and Glencoe are no longer in scope for closure as BT has concluded that there is no mobile coverage in the area.

Members of the public are reminded that Highland Council is encouraging members of the public to look at BT’s proposals and comment, giving as much information as possible.

To comply with Ofcom guidelines the Council will undertake a two-stage consultation where communities and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to object or agree to the proposed changes.

The first stage of the consultation is available on Highland Council’s website at: http://consult.highland.gov.uk/portal/dp/teleconsult/payphoneconsult

...and will be open until 5pm on 24 October 2016.

An interactive map showing the location of the public payphones up for removal is available at this link:
