Final stage of works on the A82 at Tomnahurich Bridge

Following work starting last week on the Inverness West Link route at Tommahurich Bridge in Inverness, road users are being advised that this week the project enters the final stages although a further two overnight closures with local diversions and some temporary daytime traffic control measures are required.

The first of the overnight closures will be on Monday evening when the A82 at Tomnahurich Bridge will close to all road traffic from 7pm and not reopen until 7am on Tuesday 1 November. The final overnight closure will take place the following evening, Tuesday 1 November, again from 7pm until 7am on Wednesday morning with the same diversion in place.

During the overnight closures a sign-posted diversion will be in place for road vehicles via General Booth Road and Muirton Canal Bridge. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will not be affected.

On the same stretch of road intermittent stop/go traffic management will be in place during the day on both Monday and Tuesday. Narrow lanes will also be in place to ensure the safety of workers. Drivers should expect some delays and allow extra time for their journeys, although every effort will be made to keep any disruption to a minimum.

On Wednesday next week the road will be open as normal but on Thursday 3 November, during the day, stop/ go signs and narrow lanes will be in place so again drivers should allow extra time for journeys.

The following week stop/go signs will be used to control traffic on Monday 7, Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 while line painting is carried out.

The Council and contractor thank the public for their patience.
