Interim elections for community councils

Nominations are being invited from people seeking election to three community councils in the Highlands for Fort William Community Council, Nigg and Shandwick Community Council, and Staffin Community Council.

The deadline for receiving nominations for all the community councils is 4pm on Tuesday, 15 November 2016 and elections will take place on Thursday 15 December 2016.

The need to hold interim elections have come about due to the resignation of some members which have brought the community councils down to below half of their memberships.

To stand for election you must be entered in the current Electoral Register for the Community Council area, or if aged 16 or 17 years old, have completed a Voter Registration application.

Nomination forms and copies of the scheme for the establishment of Community Councils can be downloaded from the Highland Council Website at
www.highland.gov.uk/info/799/elections_and_voting/643/community_councils; obtained on request, by e-mail to elections@highland.gov.uk, or by phoning the Council’s Service Centre on 01349 886606.

Completed Nomination Forms must be submitted to the relevant Ward Manager below in respect of each person seeking nomination and must be returned by 4pm on Tuesday, 15 November 2016.
