Nominations Wanted For Community Awards

People living throughout Ross-shire have the chance to nominate representatives from their local community for the 2006 Ross and Cromarty Civic and Community Awards.

Run by The Highland Council, these awards recognise the work of people who contribute their time, effort and energy to improve the lives of others.  Categories include Good Neighbour Award, Young Entrepreneur Award, an award for Service in the Community and awards for both sporting and musical achievement.

Area Chairman, Councillor Carolyn Wilson said:  “These Awards are a chance for us to say a big “thank you” to the people that are the backbone of our communities.  These ambassadors are busy working quietly behind the scenes and play a very valuable role. I would like to encourage as many people as possible to put forward names of people they think deserve recognition for the contribution they make.  We welcome entries for people of all ages and from all walks of life.”

Nominations forms are now available from all Service Points or by contacting June Forsyth in the Area Managers office on 01349 868500 (e-mail june.forsyth@highland.gov.uk.).   Closing date for nominations is Monday 30th October.

Successful award winners will be announced during a ceremony to be held in Dingwall at the end of November.
