Swordale Road improvements - Evanton

The Highland Council is advising locals and motorists of traffic management plans being put into place for significant road improvement work to Swordale Road, Evanton.

The works, due to start on Monday 30 January will see improved drainage and road strengthening.

More than 50% of funding for this important road improvement will be funded by the Strategic Timber Transport Scheme (STTS) and will facilitate timber extraction from the Swordale area over the next 10 years.

The works consist of resurfacing, extending passing places and ditching/drainage works. The work is very much welcomed and is a major investment.   However disruption and delays can be expected.

Residents are being advised by letter and notices. Work will start each day after 9am to avoid school and commuter traffic. At other times traffic will be managed using laybys but people are asked to allow up to an extra 30 minutes for their journey.  The works are expected to be completed within two weeks however this depends on the weather.

The Contractor will ensure that emergency access will be maintained at all times.
