Cold call control zones

Advice for traders and businesses

Setting up a zone will not  stop regular traders and businesses from doing their job. if you have to make calls to people’s homes, follow these guidelines:

• Trading Standard's National Doorstep Cold Calling Protocol
• Highland Council's Doorstep Selling Guidance Leaflet
• Where possible make an appointment with the resident in advance
• Be prepared to call at another date if the resident is unsure if you are a genuine caller

Remember, it is not illegal for you to enter a zone. However, the residents in the zone have agreed to the establishment of the zone and do not wish to be cold called. By conducting your business at these homes you will be encountering empowered residents who will notify us of your activities.
