Corran Ferry
Conditions of carriage
Passengers are carried at their own risk.
All luggage, goods and vehicles are carried at their owners’ risk and subject to the Council’s conditions of carriage listed below.
- These conditions apply to the Corran Ferry service operated by The Highland Council (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) unless otherwise stated.
- All passengers shall be carried at their own risk and all luggage, goods and vehicles shall be carried entirely at their owner’s risk.
- The Council shall be entitled in their absolute discretion and without assigning any reason to refuse to receive or ship any goods or vehicle, or any part thereof, or any passenger.
- The Council are not liable for failure to operate the ferries at the scheduled times, or at all, and they are not liable for any loss, damage or injury resulting from delays, through whatever cause arising.
- The Council reserve the right to alter or suspend the published timetable without notice.
- The Council do not undertake to carry goods of any description although they may, in their absolute discretion, carry small packets or parcels which in their opinion may be shipped without hindrance to vehicles or passengers. The Council are not responsible for the safekeeping of goods after they have been unloaded from the ferry vessel. The Council do not undertake to carry livestock, other than dogs and other domestic animals.
- The Council are not liable for any damage or injury to, or loss of any goods, luggage, vehicles or passengers from whatever cause arising, whether during embarking or unloading or during passage, or on the landing piers and buildings thereon, queuing areas or adjacent roads.
- No agents or servants of the Council has the authority to dispense with or vary any of these conditions and all passengers’ tickets and other receipts for goods and motor vehicles signed by any agent or servant of the Council shall be subject to these conditions whether or not the same be repeated therein.
- Purchasers of tickets should examine their tickets and change. The Council is not liable for mistakes to which attention is not called at the time of purchase.
- Single tickets are valid for one ferry crossing at the time and date of issue only.
- Valid concessionary tickets and season tickets may be used, subject to the following conditions:
- A concessionary ticket is not transferrable, nor does it confer any priority upon the holder over other intending passengers.
- The Council shall not in any case be liable for any consequences arising from
- The discontinuance of the sailing or alteration of the times fixed for the sailing of any ferry, or any alteration in the number of ferry boats.
- The absence of any accommodation in any vessel.
- Any delay or detention.
- The Council do not undertake to carry the holder of the ticket in any particular vessel.
- The ticket is not available for any journey unless it be produced on demand to any officer, servant or agent of the Council. If the ticket be not so produced the holder shall be liable to pay the ordinary fare for such a journey. The Council reserve the right to refuse to issue or renew a season ticket.
- In these conditions, “Vehicles” shall include all carriages (whether self-propelled or not), tricycles, bicycles, lorries, buses, coaches, cars, vans, motorcycles, campervans, caravanettes, motorhomes and other mechanically propelled vehicles, and any agricultural or other implements, any plant or machinery whether self-propelled or drawn by or attached to any other vehicle or carried separately, or any caravan or other trailer of any kind whether drawn by any other vehicle or carried separately.
- In these conditions “Goods” includes all cargo and other property, except motor vehicles, and includes passengers’ luggage.
- The conditions also apply to dogs and other domestic animals accompanying passengers, except in so far as they are inapplicable to them, and these conditions shall be so read as if the words “dogs and other domestic animals accompanying passengers” were substituted for the word “passenger” wherever the latter word occurs.
Notice
Passengers are advised that the provision of the Athens Convention may be applicable to their carriage on this ferry.
In most cases the Convention limits the carrier’s liability for death or personal injury or loss or damage to luggage (including a vehicle) and makes special provision for valuables. The Convention presumes that luggage has been delivered undamaged unless proven otherwise.
