Community Council elections

Following the close of nominations at 12 noon on Wednesday 26 February 2020, the outcome is as follows.

2 Community Councils received more nominations than their maximum membership, which means that postal ballots will now be held for Rogart Community Council and Strathnairn Community Council.

8 Community Councils attracted more than half the maximum membership, allowing them to form from 12 noon on Friday, 28 February 2020. They are as follows:

  • Caithness West Community Council
  • Caol Community Council
  • Dalwhinnie Community Council
  • Glenfinnan Community Council
  • Inshes and Milton of Leys Community Council
  • Mallaig Community Council
  • Portree and Braes Community Council
  • Shieldaig Community Council

6 Community Councils failed to attract half the maximum membership and so they did not establish.

  • Cradlehall and Westhill Community Council
  • Glendale Community Council
  • Spean Bridge, Roy Bridge and Achnacarry Community Council
  • Tannach and District Community Council
  • Uig Community Council
  • Waternish Community Council

Candidates have up until 12noon on Friday, 28 February if they wish to withdraw their nomination paper.  Notification must be given in writing by email or post to the appropriate ward manager.
