Business Grant Applications Sought

The Highland Council today launched on behalf of the Scottish Government, the COVID-19 business grant scheme. Grants of £10,000 and £25,000 are available for eligible businesses.

Retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with a rateable value between £18,001 and up to and including £51,000 will be able to apply for a one off grant of £25,000 if operating in that sector as at 17 March 2020.

Businesses operating in an eligible premises that was in receipt of the Small Business Bonus Scheme and Rural Relief as at 17 March 2020, can apply for a one off grant of £10,000.

If the business had applied for Nursery Relief or Disabled Relief but are eligible for the Small Business Bonus Scheme, they are eligible for the grant.

Businesses that may qualify for both awards may make request for only the £25,000 grant. Only one grant is allowed per ratepayer regardless of the number of premises held.

Businesses are asked to go to the Councils COVID-19 Business Grant page on its website and complete the Application Form and return it to COVID-19grants@highland.gov.uk

With nearly 5700 businesses eligible for the grants the Council is asking individual businesses to complete the Application Form accurately and in full. To do so will speed up the assessment process and enable grant payments to be made as quickly as possible.
