Bun-sgoil Shlèite is Trail Blazing

Councillor Hamish Fraser in association with Bun-sgoil Shlèite Parent Council, officially opened a new 20 metre long Timber Trim Trail today at the School.
The Timber Trim Trail is a combination of multi-functional playground equipment which includes a series of wooden frames, monkey bars, a climbing wall and a net tunnel. 

Cllr Hamish Fraser, Chairperson of the Highland Council’s Gaelic Implementation Group said, “This is an innovative development for the school as it will benefit the pupils in their exercise and outdoor play.  It also adds to the facilities available to the school and the young people”, he continued, “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Bun-sgoil Shlèite Parent Council for raising the funds to enable the development to come to fruition and the Council was delighted to make a contribution to the project.”

Fiona Hanson, Chairperson of Bun-sgoil Shlèite Parent Council said “this is great for the children and the school, especially in our 30th anniversary year.  Physical activity is very important to remain healthy and the trim trail makes it fun. I would like to thank all the people and groups who helped with funding and made this possible”.

The Bun-sgoil Shlèite Parent Council received support funding from the Landfill Community Fund, the Sleat Tor Mòr Forest Community Fund, the Highland Council, and personal donations. Sutcliffe Play Scotland supplied and installed the equipment.

Head Teacher Gwen Culbertson said, “The Trim Trail is fantastic and the pupils are already making good use of the facility. The staff and pupils are very grateful for the support received from the funding partners.  The Parent Council, particularly its Chair Fiona Hanson, has put in a tremendous amount of work, and the playground equipment will further enhance pupils’ outdoor learning activities and opportunities.  Mòran taing dhuibh uile – many thanks to you all”.
