The Highland Council in association with Gaelic organisations; Comann nam Parant and Bòrd na Gàidhlig ran a very successful Gaelic Fun and Information day last Saturday, at the Fingal Centre in Portree. There were lots of fun activities for pre-school children including face painting and a bouncy castle.

There was information for parents on Gaelic Medium Education opportunities and the benefits of bilingualism. Refreshments were available with the proceeds going to the Cròileagan Port Rìgh Group.

Councillor Hamish Fraser, Chairperson of the Gaelic Implementation Group said, “Gaelic Information Days provide an opportunity for parents of pre-school children to acquire more information on the benefits of bilingualism, and also view Gaelic resources which are available to support parents who wish to learn Gaelic so as to support their children when being educated through the medium of Gaelic”, he continued, “The Council are currently implementing its Gaelic Language Plan and events such as this are key to developing Gaelic within the Home and Communities.”
