The Highland Council’s Gaelic team have invited representatives of Edinburgh University’s ‘Bilingualism Matters’, who are a Centre of Excellence on the subject of Bilingualism, to give a presentation on the benefits of bilingualism especially in relation to young children.

The aim of the presentation and the workshop titled “Growing up Bilingual is Good for You”, which takes place in Kilmallie Free Church, Fort William on Saturday December 6th, is to raise awareness of the many benefits of bilingualism among the parents who may be interested in enrolling their children into the new Gaelic School which is due to open in Fort William in August 2015.

Crèches facilities will be available as well as an opportunity for all parents to take part in, and have fun with bilingual songs and rhymes along with their children.

The event is free of charge and starts at 12 noon.  Everyone is welcome.
