World Suicide Prevention Day 2021

Message from Donna Manson

Dear colleague,

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. For some of our colleagues this will be a very difficult day as I know many of our Highland communities have been affected by this.

The more we can do together to help each other the more we can save lives. Everyone needs help at some point in their life – whether it is due to loneliness, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, money worries, family worries, relationship difficulties, stress – a multitude of things can bring each one of us to a breaking point.

Just talking to someone can often help. And I know many of you help each other, your families and your communities each and every day – thank you.

Sometimes talking to a confidential service can help too and we have many supports in place for you.

We have mental health reps who are specially trained - They can offer support and comfort to any employee experiencing difficulties. Contact List

You can also contact james.mccreath@highland.gov.uk or check here for a range of support and information.

Spectrum Employee Assistance Programme has counsellors and free advice and they are there for all staff and your families too 24/7. Register online at https://app.spectrum.life/login# using code j5n2Rh73

If you have concerns about welfare or money worries – call Susan our welfare manager and her team on 0800 090 1004 who can help you.

Please don’t struggle alone. Speak to someone today. Please note that all these supports are confidential.

Take care,

Donna
