Infrastructure

Responsible for the design and construction of capital funded infrastructure such as roads, bridges, culverts and retaining walls; cycleways and footpaths; streetscaping, rock slope stabilisation, flood alleviation works; piers and harbours, coast protection; burial grounds; landfill sites and recycling facilities. Flood risk assessment and strategy.

Roads and Transport

Roads network management, roads and bridges maintenance. Ferries and harbours. Winter maintenance. Traffic management and orders. Car parks and parking enforcement. Public, community and school transport. Street lighting. Radio communications.

Planning

Development management, planning applications and planning enforcement.

Environment

Building standards. Business and systems support. Carbon clever, climate change and energy. Development plans, Leader, long distance routes, natural and historic environment, research and information, transport planning.

Development and Regeneration

Partnership projects. Industrial and investment portfolio, housing development. Management of private sector housing grants. City-Region deal, economic development, tourism, Business Gateway, advice and funding, IT infrastructure (fibre, 5G mobile).
