Gaelic Medium Catchment Areas for Plockton Primary School and Lochcarron Primary School
We are seeking the views of local communities on a proposal to establish Gaelic Medium catchment areas for Plockton Primary and for Lochcarron Primary.
The views of parents, school pupils, the local community and others will be sought over a period extending from 9 March 2020 to 1 May 2020.

Gaelic Medium Catchment Area for Gairloch Primary School
REVIEW OF THE PROPOSAL TO ESTABLISH A GAELIC MEDIUM CATCHMENT FOR GAIRLOCH PRIMARY SCHOOL
We have published the Final Consultation Report into our proposal to establish a Gaelic Medium catchment area for Gairloch Primary School.
The public consultation ran from 9 December 2019 to 31 January 2020.
The Final Consultation Report is to be submitted to the Highland Council’s Education Committee on 11 February 2021.
The Council has reviewed:
- all of the submissions;
- the note of the meeting;
- and the Education Scotland report;
After carrying out the above review, officials have concluded the proposal offers educational benefits and should be implemented, but with certain modifications from the original proposal. We will recommend this to the Committee.

Between 23 November and 14 December 2020, members of the public are invited to provide comments which will be tabled at the meeting of the Education Committee. This will allow Elected Members to take into account any further representations in relation to the recommendation contained within the Consultation Report, before agreeing a decision.

Uig Primary School
We have been seeking the views of local communities on the future of Uig Primary School, which has been mothballed since July 2010.
The Council is proposing to discontinue the provision of education at Uig Primary, and to reallocate its catchment area to that of Kilmuir Primary School.
The views of parents, school pupils, the local community and others were sought over a period extending from 4 June 2019 to 30 August 2019.
