Gaelic Medium Catchment Area for Mount Pleasant Primary School
On 9 December, the Highland Council agreed to the creation of a Gaelic Medium catchmentt area for Mount Pleasant Primary School

Achfary Primary School
On 15 December 2016, the Council agreed the proposal to discontinue the provision of education at Achfary Primary School, re-assigning the school's catchment area to Scourie Primary School.
Scottish Ministers were notified of the decision and provided with a copy of the Proposal Paper and Consultation Report. They had an 8 week period from the date of our decision to decide if they would intervene by issuing a call-in notice. The Highland Council received confirmation on 25 January 2017 that the Council could implement its decision to close Achfary Primary School.
Black Isle Education Centre
On 9 March 2017, the Council agreed the proposal to discontinue the provision of education at the Black Isle Education Centre.
Scottish Ministers were notified of the decision and provided with a copy of the Proposal Paper and Consultation Report. They had an 8 week period from the date of our decision to decide if they would intervene by issuing a call-in notice. The Highland Council received confirmation on 3 May 2017 that the Council could implement its decision to close the Black Isle Education Centre.
Although the Centre will lose its status as a school with immediate effect, it will continue to offer part-time support to young people until such time as a replacement facility is available to provide this service. The former Killen Primary School has been identified as a suitable location for this facility.
Dalwhinnie Primary School
On 8 September, the council agreed the proposal to discontinue the provision of education at Dalwhinnie Primary School, re-assigning the school's catchment area to Newtonmore Primary School.
Scottish Ministers were notified of the decision and provided with a copy of the Proposal Paper and Consultation Report. They had an 8 week period from the date of our decision to decide if they would intervene by issuing a call-in notice. The Highland Council received confirmation on 2 November 2016 that the Council’s decision to close Dalwhinnie Primary School has not been called in by Ministers.
Dunvegan Primary School - Relocation
A proposal to relocate Dunvegan Primary School to a new building received approval from The Highland Council on 9 March 2017.
Members of the Council agreed that the school should be re-located to a new build at Lonmore, less than a mile from its current location. The new site offers the opportunity for the school to be co-located with planned new community facilities.

On 7 September 2017 the council agreed to implement a change to the catchment boundary between Inverlochy Primary School and Lundavra Primary School.

Kinbrace Primary School
On 9 March 2017, the Council agreed the proposal to discontinue the provision of education at Kinbrace Primary School, dividing the school's catchment area between those of Helmsdale and Melvich Primary Schools.

The Highland Council received confirmation on 26 April 2017 that the Council could implement its decision to close Kinbrace Primary School.

Skye - Former Merger Proposals
This proposal was called in by Scottish Ministers and referred to the School Closure Review Panel on 1 May 2015. The School Closure Review Panel subsequently refused consent to the proposal.

On 10 May 2018, the Highland Council agreed to the creation of Gaelic Medium catchment areas for the Portree ASG.

On 28 June 2018, the Highland Council agreed to establish a new primary school in Inverness, to serve the Ness Castle and Ness-side housing developments. The Council also agreed the boundaries of the new school’s catchment area.

Review of proposal to establish a 3-18 Campus in Tain replacing Tain Royal Academy, Craighill Primary School, Knockbreck Primary School and St. Duthus School
On 5 September 2019, the Highland Council agreed to implement its proposal to build a new 3-18 community campus in Tain. The new school, when built, will replace the current Tain Royal Academy, Craighill Primary School, Knockbreck Primary School and St Duthus Special School, with a new 3-18 Campus, on a site adjacent to the present Craighill Primary School.
Scottish Ministers were notified of the decision and provided with a copy of the Proposal Paper and Consultation Report. They had an 8 week period from the date of our decision to decide if they would intervene by issuing a call-in notice. On 24 October 2019 Scottish Ministers confirmed that The Highland Council could implement its decision.
