Garden waste collection day changes in Inverness and Nairn
Some garden waste collection days in Inverness and Nairn will change from 19 October 2026.
Around 10,000 customers who have bought a 2026/27 garden waste permit will be affected. If your collection day is changing, we will contact you by letter or email with your new collection day and updated collection calendar.
Your recycling and non-recyclable waste collections will not change.

Why collection days are changing
We have changed some collection routes to make the service more efficient.
The new routes will help us:
- reduce vehicle mileage
- improve fuel efficiency
- lower carbon emissions
Getting ready for the change
If your collection day is changing, look out for a letter or email from the week beginning 5 October.
From 19 October, our Waste Aware team will be supporting collection crews across Inverness and Nairn and helping residents during the change.
If you have elderly relatives or neighbours, consider helping them make sure their bin is put out on the correct day.
