What businesses must do
If you run a business in Inverness city centre, you must follow these rules when putting trade waste out for collection.
When to put waste out
You can only place trade waste outside during the following time slots:
- 7am to 10am
- 6pm to 9pm
Waste must not be left out for more than 2 hours. If it is not collected within that time, you must bring it back inside.
Only put waste out when your business is open and staffed. Waste must never be left out overnight.
How to place waste safely
When placing waste outside:
- keep containers close to your building
- make sure pavements and roads are not blocked
- leave enough space for people to pass safely
- clearly label all waste with your business name and collection time
You are responsible for working with a licensed waste contractor. They can help you find a safe and suitable way to store waste inside your premises until it is collected.
