Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Flexible Eligibility

Vulnerable to cold criteria

You may be eligible for funding under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Flexible Eligibility scheme if someone in your household is vulnerable to the effects of living in a cold home.

This includes certain health conditions, age groups, and other personal circumstances.

Health conditions that qualify

You may qualify if someone in your household has a health condition that could be made worse by living in a cold home. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • cardiovascular conditions (such as coronary artery disease or congenital heart disease)
  • respiratory conditions (such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • mental health conditions (such as depression or schizophrenia)
  • terminal illness
  • a weakened or suppressed immune system (for example, due to medication or illnesses like HIV or cancer)
  • long-term disability or illness (such as limited mobility, learning difficulties, cancer or dementia)

Other health conditions not listed here may also be considered.

Personal circumstances that qualify

You may also qualify if someone in your household is:

  • over the age of 70
  • under the age of 5
  • pregnant
  • in acute or long-term debt
