Common good asset changes

Disposal of or change of use of common good assets

The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 requires a local authority to conduct a consultation before deciding to dispose of or change the use of Common Good assets. This process ensures transparency and community involvement.

Community Councils and relevant Community Bodies will be notified directly and invited to make representations when there is a proposal to dispose of or alter the use of Common Good assets. The proposal will also be publicised and made available for other public comments. We are required to respond to all representations and consider them before making a final decision.

Some proposals may also require approval from the Sheriff Court to proceed.
