The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 provides a framework to:
- engage communities in improving outcomes
- encourage and promote dialogue
- address inequalities
- support increased participation from those whose voices are less heard or who face additional barriers
Participation requests enable community bodies to discuss local issues and services with public authorities.
If a community body believes it can help to improve an outcome, it can request that the public authority participates in a process to achieve that improvement.
Part 3 of the Community Empowerment Act explains how participation requests work.
