Corran Ferry Infrastructure Improvement Scheme (CFIIS)

Scheme summary

The Corran Ferry Infrastructure Improvement Scheme (CFIIS) is a major development project aimed at enhancing the Corran Ferry service across the Corran Narrows on Loch Linnhe, serving both Ardgour and Nether Lochaber.

To support the operation of a new electric ferry in the future, the scheme includes:

  • A new slipway and overnight berthing pier at Ardgour
  • A new slipway, breakwater, marshalling area, parking, shared-use path, and public facilities north of Corran on the Nether Lochaber side
  • The demolition of the existing small pier at Ardgour
  • Land reclamation, dredging, and temporary construction compounds

These improvements will modernise the service, improve accessibility, and support the transition to low-carbon transport.
