Tasks and responsibilities
The Corporate Resources Committee is responsible for overseeing services that support the council’s corporate functions and resources.

Its remit includes:
- approving and reviewing policies, strategies and service plans for services within its remit
- scrutinising the management of revenue and capital budgets, including monitoring and controlling budgets and dealing with over-expenditure
- scrutinising performance related to service delivery and the implementation of strategies, policies and service plans
- reviewing the effectiveness of service standards and levels, in line with the council’s commitment to best value and continuous improvement
- making decisions about entering into partnerships, including consulting with other agencies, organisations and communities to support collaborative and effective service delivery
- considering representations and consultations from government and statutory bodies, and making representations to ministers and those bodies about services within the committee’s remit
- promoting sustainable development, equal opportunities and human rights in council business and service delivery
- considering the impact of decisions on communities, with a focus on poverty and rural issues
- ensuring all decisions take account of resource, legal and risk implications
