Dounreay Planning Framework - Development guidance

Description

The Dounreay Planning Framework provides a land use development brief against which to regulate and control future decommissioning and restoration works proposed at the former nuclear power research site at Dounreay. The latest version, Dounreay Planning Framework 2 (DPF2) presents an up-to-date overview of the policy context, regulatory regimes, site restoration programme and decommissioning works, providing explanation of the wider context for the component developments that are anticipated to be required. DPF2 was adopted by the Council on 24 April 2015 as Supplementary Guidance to Policy 24 of the Highland-wide Local Development Plan.

Dounreay Planning Framework 2 (2015)

In collaboration with Dounreay Site Restoration Limited, we reviewed the previous framework in order to prepare DPF2. Following public consultation on a draft, we considered the comments and made revisions before adopting DPF2.

Assessments of Draft DPF2

We undertook and published a final record of a Habitats Regulations Appraisal for DPF2. Mitigation identified in the appraisal has been included within DPF2.

We determined in accordance with Section 8(1) of The Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005 that a Strategic Environmental Assessment was not required for DPF2. For further information, read The Determination including Statement of Reasons
and Screening Report. The responses to the Screening Report provided by the SEA Consultation Authorities are available through Scottish Government's Strategic Environmental Assessment Database: search for case number 00730.
