NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that THE HIGHLAND COUNCIL (ARMADALE - TORMORE) (TEMPORARY 40MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026 has been made under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force at 0600hrs on 25 September 2026. While the Order is in force, the restrictions will apply 24 hours a day. The Order is required to reduce the likelihood of danger to the public whilst trialling a ‘share space’ Active Travel Quiet Route upon the road. The Council will keep the situation under review and will only revoke the Order before 18 months have elapsed if it considers that the restrictions are no longer necessary. If the Council decides to revoke the Order, this will be publicised prior to the restrictions being lifted. When this temporary Order comes into force, it will introduce a 40mph speed limit on the following two sections of the C1244 – ARDVASAR – AIRD OF SLEAT ROAD:
(1) From its junction with the A851 (Broadford – Armadale Road) extending south-westward to a point 82 metres of thereby north-east of the centre line of the access road to the property known as Rosemount, a distance of 510m or thereby;
(2) from a point 60 metres or thereby south-west of the south-west boundary of Number 1 Dail Mor extending south-westward to a point 12 metres or thereby west of the entrance to Tormore Forest, a distance of 850m or thereby.
