The site of the derelict former Fort William High School and Fort William Primary at the entrance to town have been successfully redeveloped. The renovated buildings now host the Highland Council and HIE offices, Lochaber Archive Centre, Jobcentre Plus, Highland Council service point and registration office. This allowed the redevelopment of council offices within the High Street (see the separate Tweeddale and Lochaber House projects).
