Full planning permission for a new recycling facility and aluminium billet plant at Fort William smelter was approved in September 2021 (21/02413/FUL). Work has been undertaken on the plant design and business case, but progress has stalled whilst market conditions are in flux. It is anticipated that the development would lead to the creation of up to 45 direct jobs.
