Phase 2 of housing on the Blar is under development. Work is ongoing to link this phase with the existing medical centre, completed Phase 1 housing, and the future new hospital. A preferred bus route has also been made a condition of planning which provides a one-way link from the Lochaber High School junction to the new development roundabout.
The mixed tenure homes in Phase 2 are being developed in stages linked to the wider Blar development plans. Construction of 63 homes is complete (Phase 2a) adding to the 117 homes delivered in Phase 1 (see the separate Phase 1 and Phase 2a projects). It is envisaged that a further 59 homes (Phase 2b) can be delivered giving 239 new units in total across the Blar.
Phase 2b will be developed in parallel with the hospital design and delivery programme (allowing consideration of potential requirements such as key worker housing). Currently these 59 homes are programmed for development in 2030/31 (30 units) and 2031/32 (29 units).
