Winter Fuel Payments - Benefits

If you have reached the qualifying pension age you may get a Winter Fuel Payment to help pay for keeping warm in winter. This can be between £100 and £300 depending on your circumstances.

You should automatically receive the Winter Fuel Payment without applying if you have reached the qualifying pension age and you are normally resident in Great Britain.

You will get your Winter Fuel Payment automatically if you’re eligible and either:

• get the State Pension
• get another social security benefit (not Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Child Benefit or Universal Credit)

If you think you qualify for a Winter Fuel Payment and have not automatically received it, then you will need to apply.
