An application must be:
- In writing
- Be signed by the applicant
- Made no later than 28 days before the proposed collection
If you want to set up something like a table, gazebo or stall on a path or road, you need to get permission from our roads team. For further information visit our Contact Us page.
Applicants must also complete the returns form following each collaction and submit it to their licensing office.

You need a licence to collect donations in public places for charity. If you want to collect donations in shops and supermarkets you must get their permission.
For further information refer to the guidance notes.
There is no fee associated with requesting permission to hold a collection.
