An application must be:
- In writing
- Be signed by the applicant
- Made no later than 28 days before the proposed collection
If you want to set up something like a table, gazebo or stall.on a path or road, you need to get permission from our roads team, please visit our Contact Us page for further information.
Applicants must also complete the returns form following each collaction and submit it to their licensing office.

You need a licence to collect donations in public places for charity. If you want to collect donations in shops and supermarkets you must get their permission.
For further information please refer to the guidance notes.
There is no fee associated with requesting permission to hold a collection.
