Apply for a licence

A licence is required for anyone dealing knives (this includes any object with a sharp point such as a sword).

You do not need a licence for:

  • Folding pocket knives whose blades do not exceed 3.5 inches in length or knives designed for domestic use
  • Kirpans or skean dhus whose blades do not exceed 3.5 inches in length
  • Knife blades designed for domestic use
