On hold - following the Scottish Government's announcement of a funding freeze for capital projects, work on the new Belford Hospital has been put on hold. It has been taken to RIBA Stage 2 (initial Concept Design) by principal supply chain partner Balfour Beatty.
There has been strong community representation to try and secure commitment to allow design work to be ongoing to RIBA Stage 3 with the aim to get the project 'shovel ready' for when funding can be released.
The NHS redesign of health and social care is ongoing. This process includes the project for replacing the Belford Hospital but is looking at wider service change throughout Lochaber.
