Pontoons were opened at the West End Car Park in August 2022 by Fort William Marina and Shoreline Company (FWMSCIC) to enable cruise ships to come to Fort William.
Sheltering facilities have been provided and the pontoons were extended in 2023 to enable overnight berthing for small, local, and visiting boats and vessels.
A feasibility study examining potential options for the development of expanded marina facilities on the waterfront was completed last year. In addition, FWMSCIC are looking into the feasibility of locating a portable toilet unit in the West End Car Park, for additional provision to meet the needs of cruise ship passengers.
