Community-Led Local Development Fund

About the fund

Each year, the Scottish Government gives funding to Local Action Groups (LAG) to support local priorities. For 2026 to 2027, we are investing in projects that strengthen communities in the Highlands and reduce inequality. We are focusing on two priorities.

Priority 1: Community asset improvements

This supports projects that make community‑run assets stronger, warmer and more sustainable. Projects must show clear benefits, such as improved access to activities, lower running costs, reduced carbon impact and stronger local management.

Priority 2: Tackling inequality for children, young people and families

This supports short‑term, community‑led projects that reduce barriers caused by poverty and isolation.

Funding supports activities such as youth inclusion sessions, wellbeing support, practical skills learning, family support, digital inclusion and help with transport where access is a barrier.

Grants available

The small grants pot is a single-stage application process for grants up to £10,000, assessed on a rolling basis.

Support for organisational sustainability

The Community-Led Local Development Fun (CLLD) Small Grants Programme can support project activity and organisational sustainability.

This can help organisations with revenue funding to continue delivering community initiatives such as:

  • staffing
  • volunteer support
  • organisational development
  • training
  • operational costs

You must show:

  • a clear link to at least one programme priority
  • how the funding will help maintain or strengthen community benefits
  • how your organisation will continue supporting people and communities in the Highlands

Read the revenue expenditure guidance for further information on eligiblity.
