Report a workplace health and safety concern
You can report concerns about:
- your own safety at work
- the safety of others affected by work activities
Before you report
You may wish to start by raising the issue with your employer or health and safety representative. If the issue continues and poses a risk, you can report it to us if we are the correct enforcing authority.
The enforcing authority depends on the type of workplace and work activity.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
If we are not the correct enforcing authority, you may need to report your concern to the HSE
How we enforce health and safety law
We follow HSE guidance when selecting and enforcing health and safety law.
Read the National Local Authority Enforcement Code
If an accident occurs at work, our health and safety officers will:
- advise employers on applying the law
- take enforcement action if a serious breach caused the accident
