Permits are now on sale for the 2023 to 2024 season.Garden Waste Collection Service
The Garden Waste Collection Service runs from 1 September to 31 August each year with a winter break in December, January and February. It is not a statutory service and is therefore not included in Council Tax.
You will need a permit to receive Garden Waste collections, the cost for 2023 to 2024 remains the same as the previous year, £47.75.
- Up to 3 Garden Waste permits can be purchased per household
- You can apply at other times throughout the year, although the £47.75 charge still applies
- There are no concessions or reduced rates

Other ways to recycle your garden waste
The Garden Waste Collection Service is an optional service. You can still take your garden waste along to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) free of charge. Find your nearest HWRC that can accept garden waste.
If you have a garden waste bin you no longer require you can take it to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre. Alternatively, we can collect them from your home. Please e-mail recycle@highland.gov.uk
We would encourage everyone to recycle as much as possible and help us to reduce waste going to landfill. You might want to consider getting a compost bin for garden waste. By composting at home you can reduce the amount of waste you send to landfill. Advice on home composting.
