Inverness Old Town Conservation Area Management Plan (Adopted)
The Inverness Old Town Conservation Area Management Plan sets a framework for the management of change in the built environment based on a detailed understanding of the character of this important part of the Inverness Riverside Conservation Area. A Conservation Area is defined in statute as an area that is desirable to preserve or enhance. Inverness Old Town has historic, architectural, townscape and archaeological significance. Although the Old Town faces a range of conservation challenges, it has significant potential for enhancement.
This Management Plan was approved for adoption by the City of Inverness Area Committee in June 2015 and will be a material consideration in determining planning applications. It identifies key issues for sensitive management of this part of the Conservation Area as well as principles and guidelines that will be applied to future decision making.
