A licence is required for operating a market for commercial or private gain.
- How to apply

You will need:
- a credit or debit card
- to have read the guidance notes
- site or layout plans for uploading
- public liability insurance for uploading
- current licence details
- list of vendors
- completed vendor checklist for each vendor
The application fee for a market operator's licence is £497.00 (for a 3 year licence)
The application fee for a temporary market operator's licence is £248.50 (A temporary licence is valid for a maximum of 6 weeks)
The application fee for an additional market is £156.00. This applies only where you currenly hold a market operator's licence and are applying for another premises in addition to this.

Fire safety
You must complete a fire safety checklist and send it to us before we can process your license application.
When we receive the fire safety form, we know your premises are safe for your customers and staff, and that you have complied with the fire safety regulations.Vendors Checklist
If you intend to have any caterers or stall holders at your event then you must get them to complete the checklist in the link below and submit this with your market operator's licence application form. Guidance to assist you to complete the form is also available.
