Advanced notice of works at Ruthven Bridge

pHOTO OF BRIDGE

The Highland Council is advising drivers that Ruthven Bridge, which crosses the river Spey on the road between Kingussie and Ruthven Barracks, will be temporarily closed to all vehicles from Tuesday 2 May to allow for essential carriageway and waterproofing work to be carried out.

From this date, signed diversions for this section of the B970, via Kincraig (for vehicles less than 17 tonnes) or Aviemore (for all other vehicles), will be in place for the duration of the works.

Works on site are due to be completed by Tuesday 30 May, with the bridge reopening to all traffic on Wednesday 31 May.

The Council has worked with the contractor to ensure pedestrians, cyclists, and dismounted equestrians can pass through the site while the road is closed to all vehicles. This public access across the bridge will be maintained during evenings and weekends. Access on weekdays may vary and specific arrangements in place on any given date will be communicated by signage at the site.

The Council and the contractor have been liaising with the local community and information on progress of the works will be regularly communicated via a range of channels.
