Vision 2026 – Improving the lives of children, young people and families across Highland

On Friday 25th August, Highland’s Integrated Children’s Service Plan 2023-2026 will be launched at Inverness Leisure Centre. This ambitious plan aims to support children, young people and families with commitments in six key areas – poverty, child protection, corporate parenting, drugs and alcohol, health and wellbeing, and children’s rights and participation.

To celebrate the launch of the plan, around 70 local services and community groups will come together to highlight the range of support on offer across the Highland area.  The event is open to anyone who wants to find out more about what’s available in Highland for individuals and families.

Specialists will also be on hand to provide advice, support and general information on many issues including drugs and alcohol, mental health and wellbeing, community safety, creative play, support for families, care experience, and the cost-of-living crisis.

Chair of the Integrated Children’s Service Board, Ian Kyle, said: “This Plan has been developed in partnership between statutory and third sector agencies, and built on the experiences of children, young people and families. Vision 2026 aims to strengthen links across our community planning landscape working together to provide the strength-based support families may need and for as long as they need it.”

Mhairi Grant, Independent Chair of the Child Protection Committee, said: “We are delighted to support this event. We recognise that families may struggle from time-to-time, especially during these financial pressures. It is amazing to see so many local groups and organisations able to help families whatever issues they are facing, providing practical support and confidential spaces.”

The event will run between 11am and 3pm on Friday 25th August at Inverness Leisure Centre.  The plan will be formally launched by the new Chair of Scottish Youth Parliament, Mollie McGoran, at 12pm.
